On January 1, 2023, Kristen M. Tuohy began her first term as the Prosecuting Attorney for Christian County. Kristen joined the Christian County Prosecutor’s Office in July 2012, and for the last ten years served as the First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Christian County. Kristen received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from University of Missouri in 1999. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri School of Law in 2003. Prior to joining the Christian County Prosecutor’s Office, Kristen served as a Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office specializing in serious drug offenses. Kristen also worked as an Assistant Attorney General, an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney with the Newton County Prosecutor’s Office and as an Assistant Public Defender.
In 2014, the Missouri Bar Foundation awarded Kristen with the Lon O. Hocker Trial Lawyer Award. In 2022, Kristen received a ten-year MAC service award and was awarded the 2022 Women’s Justice Award for Public Service. She was also named a 2022 Christian County Employee of the Year, for her role in combating child sexual and physical abuse, through Missouri’s “Train the Trainer: Crime Scene to Trial” program. Kristen serves on the Missouri Child Abuse and Neglect Review Board and the Prosecutor Review Committee for sexually violent predators.
