Christian County Prosecuting Attorney, Amy J. Fite announced today that ROCKY D CLARY, dob: 10/14/1961 of Kirbyville, Missouri was sentenced on Friday September 9, 2011, by the Honorable Mark Orr, to ten (10) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for the class B felony of Driving While Intoxicated as a chronic offender. Probation was denied.

During the evening hours of November 30, 2009, ROCKY D CLARY operated a motor vehicle on US Highway 65 south of State Highway F while under the influence of alcohol. A City of Ozark police officer made contact with ROCKY D CLARY while he was behind the wheel of his motor vehicle. The officer noticed CLARY had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his breath, was swaying visibly, and that his speech was slurred and filled with profanity. CLARY then refused to submit to any standardized field sobriety tests. After he was arrested and transported to the Christian County Jail, ROCKY D. CLARY refused to submit to a chemical sample of his breath, blood, or urine. Court records showed ROCKY D. CLARY had four (4) prior alcohol related convictions.

The range of punishment for the class B felony of Driving While Intoxicated as chronic offender is five (5) to fifteen (15) years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

The Christian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced today that GREGORY WATSON, dob: 08/19/1988 of Springfield, Missouri was sentenced on Friday September 2, 2011, by the Honorable Mark Orr, to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for the class B felony of Burglary in the First Degree and seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for the Class C felony of Stealing. The sentences are to run concurrent with each other. There was no plea agreement with the Christian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, GREGORY WATSON had previous plead guilty instead of going to jury trial.

During the evening hours of December 14, 2010, GREGORY WATSON entered a residence in Nixa, Missouri. The homeowner awoke to his dog barking and found GREGORY WATSON standing in his laundry room. GREGORY WATSON then pulled what appeared to be a handgun and fled through the garage. The homeowner got a weapon from his residence and chased after GREGORY WATSON. A vehicle was observed driving away from the residence at a high rate of speed. A purse with cash and credit cards, replica pistol and video games were stolen from the residence. GREGORY WATSON was caught on ATM camera attempting to use the homeowners ATM card at a Great Southern Bank in Springfield a short time after the crime was reported to law enforcement.

The Christian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced today that Carl O. Goble, dob: 10/17/1960 of Cassville, Missouri was found guilty after a jury trial presided over by Judge Craig Carter on September 1, 2011.

Evidence presented by the State showed: A.G. had obtained a protective order against Carl Goble that prohibited him from entering the premises of the A.G’s residence. On March 28, 2010 a man matching Carl Coble’s description, was seen at A.G.’s residence in Christian County, Missouri, and that he knocked on A.G’s door, looked in windows, went through her trash, and walked around her trailer. When confronted, the man seemed nervous, evaded answering questions but asked witness questions about A.G. The man left the area quickly when witness threatened to call the police and the man left on foot but was seen later that evening driving by A.G.’s residence in a dark colored four (4) door car.

A gas station clerk also saw the man in her store around that same time, located just outside the trailer park where A.G. resided, and he introduced himself as Carl Goble. Clerk indicated he was in a dark colored four door car and was asking questions about A.G.

During the penalty phase of the trial, evidence was presented that three separate women had filed protective orders against the defendant, defendant had prior arrests for: Third degree assault x2, felonious restraint, property damage, stealing, Third degree domestic assault, driving while intoxicated, theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, second degree assault, burglary, possession of firearm after former conviction, larceny, possession of controlled substance and defendant had been convicted of transporting stolen firearms, theft, third degree assault, driving while intoxicted and receiving stolen property, The range of punishment for a class A misdemeanor is up to one thousand dollars ($1000.00) and up to one (1) year in the county jail. The jury recommended a punishment of forty-five (45) days in the Christian County jail. Formal sentencing is set for October 13, 2011.

Christian County Prosecuting Attorney, Amy Fite, announced that KENNY L. DEAN, dob: 7/18/1977 of Nixa, Missouri was sentenced by Christian County Circuit Judge Mark Orr on August 12, 2011 to ten (10) years in the Department of Corrections for the class B felony of burglary in the first degree, and seven (7) years on each of two counts of the class C felony of assault of a law enforcement officer in the second degree. Probation was denied and all sentences are to run concurrent.

On February 22, 2011, KENNY DEAN, led officers from the Nixa Police Department, Ozark Police Department and Missouri Highway Patrol on a high speed chase through Christian County after a reported kidnapping. The vehicle that KENNY DEAN was operating was finally stopped after a spike strip was deployed in the 2400 block of Westwind in Ozark. KENNY DEAN ran from his vehicle after it was stopped and entered a residence. Inside the residence, KENNY DEAN assaulted two officers. He was later detained in the front yard of the residence.

Christian County Prosecuting Attorney, Amy Fite, is pleased to announce today that 1st Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, Christopher W. Lebeck was selected for the Bar Leadership Academy. The Academy, now in it’s 12th year encourages diversity among the leadership of The Missouri Bar by recruiting and targeting young or recent admittees (under age 40 or less than 10 years of practice) to the Bar who are already outstanding leaders in their communities for participation in the program and a commitment to work for the Bar.

Academy participants are nominated by attorneys, their firms or coworkers, and local or specialty bars. Each class is limited to twelve or fewer members.

Participants in the program complete leadership training, develop and implement a community service project and prepare for a two year commitment of service to the Missouri Bar Association.
