Brittany Scrivener Sentenced to 20 years in Missouri Department of Corrections for July 2018 Car Chase and Assault Against Police Officer

RE: Brittany Scrivener Sentenced to 20 years in Missouri Department of Corrections for July 2018 Car Chase and Assault Against Police Officer
OZARK, MO – The Christian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced that Brittany Scrivener dob: xx/xx/1991 formerly of Springfield, Missouri was convicted of Unlawful Use of a Weapon Shooting from a Motor Vehicle, Assault 2nd Degree (3 counts), Armed Criminal Action (3 counts), Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting Arrest by Flight and Driving While Under the Influence of Controlled Substance for crimes committed on July 8, 2018.
On August 24, 2020, Judge Laura Johnson formally sentenced Ms. Scrivener to twenty years in prison. Ms. Scrivener plead guilty to all crimes charged as a part of a plea agreement with the Christian County Prosecutor’s Office on August 17, 2020. The Defendant admitted to leading officers on a high-speed police chase throughout Christian County on July 9, 2018. In Court, she agreed that during the pursuit, she fired multiple shots at three different officers. No private citizens, officers or police vehicles were hit by the shots fired. The defendant admitted that during the high-speed pursuit, she possessed methamphetamine and was under its influence while driving the car.
Nixa Police Department handled the investigation of this case. Christian County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri Highway Patrol assisted Nixa Police Department in apprehending Ms. Scrivener and in ending the pursuit. The case was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Rachel Smith. The team assigned to this case included: Victim Advocate Julie Harlan, Legal Assistant Libby Deroche, and Investigator Kevin Holle.
New APAs Joshua Baker and Scottie Bowden Sworn In
On September 23, 2019 Judge Bacon administered the Oath of Admission to the Missouri Bar to Joshua Baker and Scottie Bowden. Thereafter, Judge Bacon swore each one in as Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys. Finally, prior to receiving their badges of office each was administered the Prosecutor Code of Ethics by Prosecuting Attorney Amy Fite.
Joshua Baker, a native of Kansas City, Missouri received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2019). He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2014).
Scottie Bowden, a native of Branson, Missouri received his Juris Doctorate from the Washburn University School of Law (2019). He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of the Ozarks (2015).
APA Shana Mora goes Over The Edge!
On June 8, 2019, Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Shana Mora participated in the “Over the Edge” fundraiser for the Child Advocacy Center after raising $1100 for the organization.
Over the Edge is a unique fundraising program that tasks participants with raising a minimum of $1,000 dollars for the Child Advocacy Center. Participants meeting this criterion have the option of rappelling down the 11 story Sky Eleven (formerly Woodruff) Building in downtown Springfield, Missouri.
The Child Advocacy Center is an invaluable partner in both our community and the work we do at the Christian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Formed in 1995, the CAC serves 16 counties throughout southwest and south central Missouri and has offices in Springfield and West Plains.
The CAC works with Children’s Division and other law enforcement agencies to ensure a “child-first” approach to handling cases of suspected child abuse. This ensures that investigations put the needs of child victims and witnesses first, and reduces the risk of further trauma during the investigation process.

Doyle Hitchcock Found Guilty of Forcible Sodomy, Other Counts

RE: CHRISTIAN COUNTY JURY FINDS DOYLE HITCHCOCK GUILTY OF FIVE COUNTS OF FORCIBLE SODOMY, TWO COUNTS OF FORCIBLE RAPE AND SIX COUNTS OF ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF A CHILD
OZARK, MO – The Christian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced that DOYLE E HITCHCOCK DOB: 06/28/1963 formerly of Ozark, Missouri was found guilty on June 7, 2018 by a Christian County jury of five counts of forcible sodomy, two counts of forcible rape and five counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree. A jury trial was commenced before the Honorable Judge Jennifer Growcock on June 4, 2018 and concluded on June 7, 2018.
The jury deliberated for approximately three hours before finding the defendant guilty. Formal sentencing will be scheduled before the Honorable Judge Jennifer Growcock.
The range of punishment forcible sodomy and forcible rape is a term not less than five years in the Missouri Department of Corrections or a life sentence. The range of punishment for the endangering the welfare of a child is a term of incarceration up to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections and/or a fine up to $5,000.
The investigation of this case was handled by Christian County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by First Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Tuohy.
