MARK WOMACK Jr. RECEIVES 25 YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS
OZARK, MO – The Christian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced today that on April 5, 2013 Mark E. Womack, Jr.; dob: 5-22-1966 formerly of Republic, Missouri was sentenced by the Honorable Judge Mark Orr to a total of twenty-five (25) years in the Department of Corrections. On December 14, 2012, the defendant had pled guilty in front of the Honorable Judge Orr to 6 felony counts including one count of statutory sodomy in the first degree of a child less than 14 and to five counts of child molestation first degree for offenses occurring between March 1, 2008 and September 1, 2010. Judge Orr sentenced defendant to twenty-five years on the statutory sodomy first degree and to fifteen years on each of the child molestation counts with all counts to run concurrent.
Defendant is awaiting sentencing in Greene County in case number 1131-CR06232-01 having pled guilty on 2/22/2013 to two counts of child molestation first degree, one count of statutory sodomy first degree child less than 14 and two counts of statutory sodomy second Degree.
The range of punishment for statutory sodomy in the first degree of a child less than 14 is life imprisonment or a term of years not less than five years. This is a charge that requires a defendant serve 85% of the sentence before being eligible for parole. The range of punishment for child molestation first degree is 5 years to 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
